30 August, Delhi: Jan Sunwai

August 24, 2013

Dear Friends and Comrades,

As you know, we the workers of Maruti Suzuki Manesar, continue to struggle without jobs, without bail or release, without justice. We have continued to struggle against against the false projections of industrial peace and prosperity in Gurgaon, which is at its core, based on unfettered exploitation by companies, and helped on by repression of the government-police-administration as Maruti Suzuki management’s illegal practices and hand-in-glove Haryana government has clearly demonstrated.

We have continued to struggle, despite our 147 fellow workers behind bars without bail since July 2012, despite completely unjust criminal cases on 212 workers and continuing non-bailable arrest warrants on 65 workers, despite our worsening economic conditions, despite the devastation of thousands of families, despite the continuous threats, harassment, beatings, torture, lathi-charge by the police-administration, and a continually depleting reality of getting any justice. We are daring to hope against hope that we will persevere in the face of the powers-that-be in our just struggle for justice, and that workers in the entire belt and in the entire country who face similar exploitation increasingly will take up this struggle in their own places and in solidarity with our struggle.

Towards this end, we are organizing a JAN SUNWAI (public hearing) on 30th August 2013, at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. We appeal to all workers, peasants, trade unions, political organisations, progressive and democratic groups, individuals to join us in:
